Our Story: A Legacy of Innovation Since 1934
What started in 1934 with Machani Somappa’s mission to uplift weavers has grown into a lasting legacy of impact and innovation. Awarded India’s first Padma Shri in 1954, his vision of economic empowerment laid the foundation for what came next.
Decades later, when our Managing Director, Ravi Machani, asked Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former president of India, “What an entrepreneur could do for the country?” His answer was simple yet profound; “Create more jobs.”
Inspired by the vision, Ravi established the first IndiVillage center in 2010 in Yemmiganur, India. From a single center to 11 and counting, our journey is rooted in one mission; leveraging technology to create #TechJobsForAll and drive meaningful change.
